After being at the centre of some big and small controversies in Indian administered Kashmir – the infamous land row being the biggest – the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has been reconstituted. The new board includes an environmentalist for the first time and some eminent personalities like the Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.Shahnawaz Khan reports on the change that analysts say is meant to change.
Trans-Kashmir-trade a penniless business

No ambulance for Kashmir's injured
In Indian administered Kashmir, where thousands of small and big blasts have caused tens of thousands of casualties, the state healthcare system boasts of one ambulance, mostly attached with the state head.
For the rest of folk there are a few carrier vans disguised as ambulances, most of which lack even basic emergency facilities.

Kashmir saffron losing ground
The slopes of Pampore, a town on the banks of river Jehlum in Indian administered Kashmir, are struggling to preserve its prized possession - Saffron, the costliest spice in the world. The karevas that once produced upto 16 metric tones of Saffron each year are left with a 6 metric tonnes annual production. Nusrat Ara reports.
Facts underground
The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons have located upto a thousand unnamed graves across the northern district of Indian administered Kashmir, which hold bodies claimed by police to be of foreign militants. The group which released a report ‘Facts Underground’ last week in Srinagar suspects the graves may hold answers to over estimated 10,000 disappearances in Kashmir. Faisul Yaseen reports.
Why a Kashmir artisan body opposed Pashmina patent
Efforts to secure a patent for Kashmir Pashmina fell into rough weather with opposition from a Pakistan based trade body, and an artisan body from Indian administered Kashmir. While the Pakistan body insists for inclusion of Pashmina products from Pakistan administered Kashmir, the Srinagar based body of artisans says the patent application is flawed.
